Christmas In The Past

From November through to December, we are offering a Christmas in the Past programme. It will cover some of the traditions of Christmas in New Zealand. Bring your students along to learn about and help with preparations for Christmas.

Christmas Decorations and Cards

Make old time decorations for the Christmas tree and a heritage card.

Christmas Baking

Find out about preparation of food for Christmas and make a festive gingerbread biscuit.

Christmas Eve Social Activity

Find out about how people spent their Christmas Eve by taking part in parlour games and carol singing.

Boxing Day Games

Learn about the history of Boxing Day and participate in Boxing Day races and games.

Christmas Stories

Learn about New Zealand Christmas traditions through story and verse. 
Children participate in a traditional Christmas story, for example Twas the Night Before Christmas or choice of the Nativity Story.
The story is enhanced with the use of artefacts and props.
